Understanding the Toolkit: How it works
Future Places Toolkit combines augmented reality, live VR sketching, guided conversation and facilitated workshops to transform how developments are understood, discussed, and approved. It offers new ways to inspire and involve.
We provide immersive community engagement for architects, civil engineers, and council planners, enabling their communities to explore planning ideas together - directly in the place they are shaping, in real-time. Through tools such as Future Places AR, Future Soundings, and detailed session reports, we help our partners reach a broader audience, generate more meaningful feedback, and build stronger consensus.
What we offer
Individual Engagement Activities
Future Places AR - using augmented reality, participants visualise their ideas at street level, explore proposals in context, and share immediate feedback.
Future Soundings - uses participatory story writing and spatial audio to help communities imagine, co-create and then experience possible futures for their place.
These experiences are flexible and can be tailored to your context.
Bespoke activity packages
Tailored engagement programmes designed around the needs of your project, stakeholders, and community.
From initial scoping and consultation planning through to delivery, packages can combine multiple activities and a variety of outputs such as detailed community reports and shareable media content.

Bristol City Council summer workshops
This summer we’ve been busy delivering Future Places AR workshops with Bristol City Council, supporting local imagination to help shape the future of south Bristol.
Future Soundings at Futures Now and Embodied Research Symposium
This summer we ran Future Soundings at Futures Now, a festival of futures in the making by the Centre for Sociodigital Futures, and at the Brigstow Institute’s annual Embodied Research Symposium exploring physical and sensory experiences in creative practice and academic research.
Pineapple Award Finalists
Alongside Stride Treglown and Cowshed, we were selected as finalists in the engagement category, for work on the Caerphilly Town 2035 – Festival of Ideas project.
